Finding a place that offers genuine support and healing can feel like a rare gift. Annapolis Wellness House has been exactly that for me—a surprising source of comfort and growth during a challenging time. Through a variety of programs and therapies, I have discovered new ways to connect with myself and others, and to find peace amid the struggles I face.

Yoga: Finding Balance in Movement and Mind

Yoga was one of the first offerings I tried at Annapolis Wellness House. At first, it felt difficult because my mind and body were out of sync. The poses challenged my balance and focus, but that challenge became part of the healing. The group was welcoming and fun, which made it easier to keep coming back. Over time, yoga helped me find moments of calm and a little more peace in my day. It was not about perfect poses but about learning to be present and gentle with myself.

Virtual Group Therapy: Sharing Strength in Community

Joining the virtual men's group and other therapy sessions online was a powerful experience. It helped me realize I am not alone in facing cancer and its many challenges. Hearing others share their stories and struggles created a sense of solidarity. We all face similar battles, and this connection brought comfort and hope. The virtual format made it easy to join from home, which was important when energy was low or travel was difficult.

In-Person Group Therapy: Reflection and Solace

I attended in-person group therapy sessions hosted by two different facilitators. Each session offered something unique. One helped me reflect on what I truly value and the nature of my relationships. It was eye-opening to see which connections really mattered to me. The other session introduced a beautiful poem that brought me solace and a new way to express feelings I had trouble putting into words. These moments of reflection helped me understand myself better and find emotional relief.

Forest Bathing: Connecting Deeply with Nature

One of the most unexpected experiences was forest bathing at Queit Water State Park. Spending quiet time in nature unlocked a deeper part of why I love being outdoors. It was more than just a walk; it was a way to connect with the calm and happiness that nature brings me. This practice helped me slow down and appreciate the present moment, which can be challenging when dealing with health challenges. The peaceful surroundings made it easier to breathe and feel grounded.

Solo Therapy with Sophia: Listening and Emotional Control

Working one-on-one with Sophia in in-person therapy sessions has been a valuable part of my journey. Talking through my thoughts and feelings helped me get "my stuff" off my mind. I tend to talk a lot, but having someone who truly listens made a big difference. It helped me manage my emotions better and feel less overwhelmed. This process is still new to me, but I already see how it supports my mental health and emotional balance.

Trying New Things: Art Making

Looking ahead, I am excited to try art making, even though art is not my strong suit. Trying new activities is part of my healing journey, and I am open to exploring creative outlets. Art making might offer another way to express myself and process what I am going through. Annapolis Wellness House and its Volunteers encourage this kind of exploration, which makes it easier to step outside my comfort zone.

Embracing the Journey

My time at Annapolis Wellness House has been full of surprises and growth. Each offering—from yoga to group therapy, forest bathing, and solo sessions—has helped me in different ways. The welcoming community and supportive environment make it a place where healing feels possible. If you are looking for a space to find connection, peace, and new ways to cope, this wellness house might be the place to start.

Taking small steps, trying new things, and sharing with others have all been key parts of my journey. Healing is not a straight path, but with the right support, it becomes a path worth walking.
